On monday 15th October i done my pitch for my idea for my poster. my first few slides where about my research process, posters i had looked at and one particular artist J. Howard Miller. I chose his poster "we can do it". I found information about the poster including where the inspiration for the poster came from. i thought the women in the poster reminded me on a 1940's Dita Von Teese.
The colours of her make-up are slightly dulled down where-as i want to brighten them to create a more modern look. I want people to know that twitter is just as female populated as it is male so using a women in the poster to promote this will work well. i choose a font called "motor oil 1937" to use on my poster because it is very similar to the original.
Once i had finished my pitch i was given feedback by george and by my class. One of my ideas was to draw small birds all over her top, people thought this could be a step to far and i could be using to many birds on my poster, i think this will be trial and error and i can only try to do it to how what the outcome looks like. i also want to add a twitter bird logo as a tattoo on her arm and this idea was well praised. i changed the bandanna on her head to the colour of the twitter logo and added white polka dots. another suggestion i got was to add small birds on her bandana instead of on her shirt.
Here is a screenshot of how my poster is coming along, at the moment i am changing the gradient mesh on her arms and face. I haven't done anything with her shirt yet but this will be my next task, and i'll have the decide on an outcome of colours and if i will use the small printed birds. I've kept her make-up in keeping with Dita Von Teese. I've even added real nail polish. the feedback i got for my pitch was really useful and i'm going to use people suggestions on my poster to try to make it better. I found it really helpful to hear peoples opinions and to hear what they had to say.
