Postcard colour schemes

i've been working with Jess on postcard invitations, the whole class decided this was a nice touch as an invitation idea, and it was more exciting to get this through the post instead of a letter in a envelope or instead of an email that they get 100+ a day off. We went through so many colour options it was crazy! (jess would agree) until we finally settled on these 4 colour collaborations,  The green and purple is my favourite colour combo and i also like the pink and black, we wanted to use colours that really stood out against each other and yellow was our biggest challenge, we tried orange which we thought was to close in the colour spectrum and then we tried plenty of different greens and finally settled on a grassy green but with orange as the text colour. i don't see why the BA's wouldn't like these but you never know.

logo ideas

our class had to sit down and have talk about what logo we were going to use, because jess had designed the branding poster and Dan was in charge of branding, Jess designed a collection of logos form everyone to choose from, most people had mixed opinions on what logos to use but in the end the final decisions was left down to jess connor and dan because they were doing the branding and the rest of the class were quite happy with whatever logo was used.

The BA's don't seem to want to be involved much, we keep asking questions and opinions on things but they don't want to answer and also sue is saying we shouldn't be deciding on anything final yet and we should wait until the BA's have finished there project but if we did this then we would only have 2 weeks to plan a whole show. personally i think this is ridiculous because to make it successful you need to have plenty of planning behind it. They seem to disagree with most of what we do and i don't think they like that we are in control of the show. we will see what happens when they finish their project, we have already mentioned we need to have a big group meeting to explore everyones ideas and opinions.

branding poster

After a long discussion in class we narrowed down our posters to Jess and Connor. The views were very mixed on what poster we should use and in the end jess poster ended being the one we were using. she including images that stood for people so i was a charm bracelet and we thought this was a nice way of personalising the show, i'm happy with going with jess's poster as this was my choice out of the 2 posters anyway. for the invitation I've thought about using jess's poster with 4 different colour schemes and using them as a postcard to send out as invitations.

My branding poster

This is a screenshot of my branding poster that i am working on, i have chosen green as this is a general colour that is used within computers and as we have no set colours i thought this might be a good colour to use. i used a bunting font as i felt this was quirky and different and would make you want to stop and look at the poster. instead of placing dots all over the poster which would of been the most obvious, i decided it would look nice to have 3 set lines to set off the font. i chose a cartoony style font for the other smaller details of the poster such as the venue and the time. i haven't gone into loads of detail on my poster as the class is going to put al of their work up on the board and we are going to discuss what poster we are going to use for the show. if my poster does get picked then i will add more details and add more information about the show but for now i am happy with the way this looks.

graduate show poster inspiration

These are a collection of graduate show posters that i have found.

i liked the 2 colour choice on this poster keeping the colours simple. the text gives you all the image you need. there are small details within the text that give it that something special and it makes you want to look further into the poster to find out what it is about.

i love the painted feel of this poster. its for an art and design class. i think this poster is showcasing everything it needs too, the students have chosen to show to tools they used to create their work for the show. i love the green and black contrast colouring but my favourite part of the poster is the painted edge feel.

when i look at this poster it makes me feel like the students stand out from the rest of the crowd and they are the black sunglasses where as the rest of the designers are the white sunglasses. this poster also follows the 2-3 colour rule and i think i will be using this on my poster design.

this poster is the most drastic  have seen which uses more colours and shades of colours to create a printed poster, they have used typography to create an image of a game machine which obviously links into the names of the course the graduates have attended. this poster works well with creating something interesting to look at but i think this has too many colours.

this poster i find really odd and undecided on. i like the brown paper background but i am not totally sold on the cartoon style doodle which they have used as their poster image. if i saw this poster i wouldn't be inspired to go to the show they were holding.

branding 2

Dan mole has been put in charge of branding and sorting out a poster design to get the show promoted. Gina,Glen and Liam are doing the social media and have set up a twitter, Facebook and an emial account for the show under the name Dots Per Inch. i just have a few concerns that the 3rd years aren't going to like what we are doing but we have been giving them opportunities to get involved and they have chosen not too.

we have all got to come up with our own ideas for posters and this is stated in our brief so i am going to be working on a poster design of the show.

branding

we have still to decide the name on our show. we have had various suggestions but we have become stuck on a name.

Luma

RGB ( which was originally meant to stand for really good bullish*t)

Room 301 because this is our room number.

Dots per inch

we had a few voting options and we done ticks on the bard next to the name and we also put our hands up and we ended up with two names.

Dots per inch
RGB

i wanted RGB to win as i felt this was a really fun quirky name and would reflect our class well, i didn't like the dots per inch at all but sadly this one got the majority vote and so our show became the Dots Per Inch show.

guestlist

i have been looking into design agencies in brighton. lewes and eastbourne to find out their addresses and telephone numbers. i have so far got an extensive list mainly in brighton. these are a few examples of their websites and how they promote themselves on their website. i have been mainly looking on google and a few people have come to me telling me of agencies they know off and i have added them to the list. currently i am still looking and need to finish this. i don't what to invite to many as it is going to affect our budget with printing and postage costs so we need to look closely and the right agencies who would be interested.
